Week 12 - Fun Week

Fun Week

We have planned a fun week for our last week of term. Everyone has been working so hard and we are very proud of you. We would love to see all of our parents, guardians, children and staff taking part in the activities! There are some resources in the folder for you to use. Please send us your photos and videos!

 Boys and Girls,

We have come to the final week of home-schooling! Last week of work – YAY!! What a journey each and every single one of us has been on these past few months. Never did we imagine that it would come to this. We have told you every week how proud we are of each and every single one of you – we truly mean that from the bottom of our hearts. It has been a tough few months for us all, each of us dealing with the Pandemic in different ways. We are happy to finally say that more positive news is on the horizon!

We want to thank you all, for being the best Primary 4 bunch in the whole of Derry City!! You are a credit to us and to your parents/family. We have enjoyed and will cherish our fun memories of Primary 4! We thank you for your reverence and preparation for receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. We look forward to sharing in your special day in the near future. Continue to say your prayers to God to keep us all safe and well.

Parents/Guardians, we want to say an extra special thank you for all of your support throughout the entire year! We understand that this has been an unbelievable year, but you have been amazing. We know that some of you may be feeling a little anxious about next year, worried about work that was missed – rest assured your child/ren will be well looked after when they return to Greenhaw! They mean the world to us and we will ensure they receive the highest level of education upon their return as always. Don’t fret, please try to enjoy your Summer – chill out and relax – you absolutely deserve it.

Please remember that on Wednesday 24th June you have been invited to come in to school in order to pick up books and reports for the children. We have emailed you all a time slot in order to ensure safety as a priority! There will be members of staff there to direct you into the building – to the Assembly Hall, where you can collect your belongings. In order to ensure social distancing is adhered to, please can we ask for you to attend as one parent with your child.

Goodbye

I’m glad I was your teacher.

I’ve come to love you so

I can’t believe the end is here.

I hate to see you go.

I’ve watched you learn and grow

And change from day to day.

I hope that all the things we’ve done

Have helped in some small way.

So, it’s with happy memories that

I send you out the door

With great hope and expectations

For what next year holds in store.

Remember all the fun we had

In all the things we did,

But most of all remember…..

You’re a very special kid

Lots of Love

 Mrs McGrellis & Miss Ramsay

Hello Boys and Girls,

Week 10 of home school learning, it is quite unbelievable! As always we want to acknowledge your amazing work at home. We hope you are continuing to stay safe and helping out at home. We must try to remain focused and concentrate on the positive side of the pandemic! We have all had some wonderful, quality time with our parents and siblings - time that we will always cherish. As hard as it may be to continue sitting at the kitchen table to work,  we must push through and show determination. It won't be too long now until the Summer holidays - then you will be asking for work!

We want to say a huge congratulations to all children who are trying their best to complete their Mathletics and their AR. We know it can be tough to get these things completed but keep trying, even if you log on for 10 minutes. This week you will see an extra folder has been added. It is Mental Health Awareness week, therefore we have added some lovely activities that you could complete. Take some time off all the hard work and relax the mind.

Outdoor Classroom

Please see the link below, outdoor learning ideas happening on the 21st May

https://outdoorclassroomday.com/resources/lesson-ideas/

Please continue to work hard on your reading boys and girls. It is very important, we loved this quote from Roald Dahl. Found it very poignant.

"So Matilda's young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world, like ships on the sea. They gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message - you are not alone."

Stay safe everyone, wash those hands and be kind to one another.

Message for our Primary 4s

Home Learning - Primary 4

This is an extremely challenging time for everyone. During this time we will try our best to ensure that our children continue to learn. Below is a plan for each week, which will be regularly updated us. This includes activities, resources and challenges. We would advise that your child follows a structured day, whenever possible. We appreciate that this will never replace teaching, however it is important that children are still given the opportunity to learn and reinforce prior learning at home. We do not expect parents to become teachers overnight! This is not home-schooling, it is us trying to support you during a global pandemic. Please do not feel that your child needs to complete every task or stress if they are finding things challenging. Feel free to browse all our learning areas for additional ideas and resources.

During this crisis we would like to set up a method of communication with parents. Below you will find the email address of your class teacher. Please email the relevant teacher with both the name of the parent contact and the child's name only. This will facilitate a group contact list to be created.

Thanks
