Numeracy - November/December

Number

• Counting through rhymes, songs and poems. 
• Counting forwards & backwards to 10. Counting from different starting points. 
• Sequence numbers to 5/10.
• Identify the number before and after a given number.
• Recognise and write numbers 4,5 & 6. 

Shape & Space

• Consolidate shapes learned to date; circle, square, triangle.
• Recognise rectangles and find them in our environment.

Measures

• Become familiar with covering a surface area e.g. hedgehogs & leaves, Christmas wrapping. 

Pattern

• Complete a simple repeating pattern.
• Create a simple repeating pattern 2/3 step. 

Literacy - November/December

Talking & Listening

• Circle Time e.g. sharing news, PATHS lessons. 
• Rhyming activities
• Listen to and join in with a variety of rhymes. poems and songs.

Reading & Comprehension

• Listen to and respond to shared stories e.g. Autumn Stories, Christmas stories.
• Join in with familiar rhymes, stories and songs.

Phonics

• Units 1 & 2 sounds from Sounds Write Phonics. 
• Continue to understand that sounds are represented by symbols
• Continue to develop an awareness of sound - symbol correspondence
• Continue to blend sounds to build simple cvc words. 

Writing

• Continue to develop correct pencil grip.
• Demonstrate increasing pencil control through tracing activities.
• Develop correct letter formation for sounds n,o,p.
• Understand that writing is a form of communication e.g. instructional writing, Santa letters.
• Give lots of opportunities through play based learning to write and practice mark making

WAU: Our theme is 'Toy Story'. we will also explore Autumn and Christmas this half term.
