Exploring fruits and paint 🍎🍌
Part of our theme in the nursery during the month of October is exploring fruits. The children will have opportunities to taste a wide variety of fruits as part of our daily healthy snack routine, (some of which they will never have seen before). They will be cutting the fruit up and exploring the patterns inside. Today, we began this exploration by looking closely at the fruit, discussing the colours and textures and observing the patterns within each piece. The children then began printing using some of the fruit set out and paint. Whilst some children were happy to print, others explored the fruit and paint by dipping it into the paint, and spreading it all around their page . There was lots of discussion about which new colours could be made as the colours were all mixed up, and then some children began painting their hands and making their hand prints. We compared the patterns from our hand prints, to those of the fruit prints. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity and the mathematical language and discussions that occurred were fantastic!
