P1/2's Autumn trip to St. Columb's Park.
The children from Mrs Cunningham's class and Miss Mc Callion's class had a glorious crisp day in St.Columb's Park exploring the woods and looking for signs of Autumn. As they crunched their way through the colourful fallen leaves they were able to find berries, conkers, sycamore helicopters and pine cones. They used their senses to listen to the sounds in the forest, mostly birds and streams, smell the plants and trees, and look out for any signs of Autumn. The highlight of the walk was when the children spotted grey squirrels scuttling through the trees. The children took a rest at a very old wishing tree and made some wishes. They saw the River Foyle and also spotted the Foyle bridge. They had a well deserved play in the park before they made their way back to the bus and school in time for lunch. A thoroughly enjoyable and educational day was had by all!
