Today the children from P5 went on a tour of our city. In our topic we are learning about the world outside our window so it was a great experience to take a look around the city we live in and learn about its rich history and some amazing facts. We stopped first at Sainsbury's and learned that it was where people boarded the ships that took them to America during the Great Hunger. We then went up to the Walls and walked around these. We were told some of the history about the Siege of Derry, the ghosts of Pump Street and what happens in the Guildhall. Finally we were told that the biggest boat in the world was made in Derry, not Belfast! We had a great trip!
